By DAVID POWNALL
12 PM, AUGUST 13
To an American music critic in the Garden of the Castello Gesualdo near Naples comes the dead critic, Philip Heseltine, who became the composer Peter Warlock by reincarnating in himself demonically the 16th century marginal composer, Carlo Gesulado.
Heseltine, through his powers as a warlock, summons Gesualdo, who acts out the crime passionel which inspired his own suicide.
A fascinating game for the composers play with the critic - and Pownall with us - in a play that is also engaging peace of criticism.
"Music to Murder By is elegant, spare and sharp." - Michael Billington, The Guardian
